The Chocolate Tour is a very attractive half-a-day program that leads the visitors through the nice green plantations up to the processing plant for cacao beans. After a tasty homemade Dominican lunch the visitors will make their own chocolate, in a traditional way, with the local women group. Also some other cacao products can be tasted, like cacao wine and cacao marmelade. Show movie.

Along with enjoying the Chocolate Tour, there is the opportunity to enjoy the peaceful surroundings and Dominican culture with additional activities in the community of "Los Botados", like a horseback riding tour and swimming in the surrounding pristine rivers.A typical rural Dominican house has been renovated and nicely furnished. With 3 self contained rooms, the "casa familiar" gives room to a maximum of 10 people and can be rented per night. It's a wonderful opportunity to experience daily life of the cacao farmer families in the Dominican countryside.
Home stay program - Download detailed information
The homestay program is an excellent way to get familiar with the daily lifes of the Dominican cacao farmer families. The regular program is 7 days, but can be adapted upon request. The program gives room to enjoy the laid back culture, but also contains several activities, like the Chocolate Tour, visit to Fairtrade projects, local schools and hikes in the nearby area.
